Blake finished up his Kindergarten year this year. It was rough to say the least but his teacher was the biggest blessing during this eventful year! She truly made him feel like he could do anything and supported his growth along the way. After having been assigned 3 teachers and then having his first teacher resign 2 weeks in to school we were at a loss as to where to go next. Mrs. Rose was there to save the day and I'm not sure that Blake would be where he is today without her. Here's to hoping Joslyn can be in her class next year!

Blake and I decided to make his teacher a quilt and he picked out all of the fabric. He used Harbor Springs Jolly Bar by Minick & Simpson for Moda. He chose this fabric because it had roses in some of the prints and his teachers name is Mrs. Rose. He also loved the colors, red, white and blue and says the other reason that he chose it is because Mrs. Rose LOVES America! This made me laugh but I embraced the love and made it as patriotic as possible which I feel is very fitting for the 4th of July!

The quilting is with red, white and blue variegated thread in a pattern called Simply Stars by Urban Elementz. It turned out amazing and was just what Blake was looking for. The back is a bright blue minky fabric to snuggle up with and it gave it some amazing weight for those cold nights, maybe I didn't think that one through since this is a July themed quilt oops!

The pattern that I used is the same as the ones that Joslyn and Riley made for their teachers. It is the Brick Wall Quilt from happyquiltingmelissa.com. It was simple to follow and came together really quickly to showcase some of the amazing patterns in the jolly bar.
