Rainbow Room Makeover

Whew what an eventful week! I finally got some time to vacation with my family. We took a well deserved trip to Great Wolf Lodge and then had planned on heading to Seaside. However, we cut our trip a bit short and headed home to get ready for the first day of school tomorrow! Since we came home early we got to see Patrick ref a football game, clean most of the house and then we put together Joslyn's much anticipated rainbow room!

Her birthday is in February and we have been promising her this gift since then. Parent's of the year finally came through and finished it up so that she could finally sleep in her own room and have a place to feel comfortable in.

I used all Dynasty paint sample colors from Home Depot. When I brought up all the colors the guy at the counter was thrilled to be making all sample sizes hehe. I will list the colors as I describe what we did in the room.

We started out with the sun painted above her headboard (Turmeric). Joslyn is truly a ray of sunshine and you can't have a rainbow without some sunshine. You also can't have it without rain as Riley so kindly pointed out but I didn't go that far as to freehand raindrops all around.

Next is my freehand rainbow. From top to bottom colors are Sunset Drive, Before Winter, Turmeric, Dragonfly, Camelot. Yes, I freehanded it and no, it isn't perfect but it is so darn cute. My husband was shocked that I didn't want it a little more perfect but I love the look of it and think that it turned out amazing. Joslyn was ecstatic and that is all that counts!

This project took up about 2 hours once the room was all cleaned out and it looks so much bigger now that there isn't a loft bed in the room with a pile of toys underneath it! We bought Joslyn some soft faux fur bedding that Riley promptly fell asleep on and a cute reading pillow at the foot of her bed, all from Marshalls. Jaxson is also a big fan of the room, clearly this soft carpet was made just for him to sleep on!

Next up, we have Blake's room to makeover. I will share as soon as I we are able and I will have to do a throwback to when we made over Riley's room as that was an awesome transformation!
