School's Out For Summer!

School's out for summer! I can't believe we made it through the school year which started out as hybrid and then moved halfway through the year to half days and then finally full days. What a whirlwind. Anyways, these teachers seriously deserve a medal. They are amazing!

Riley was in 3rd grade. She had an amazing teacher that helped her transition to a new school, where she had no friends and was in an extremely challenging learning environment, to still thrive and love learning! In the midst of all of this chaos Riley ended up getting appendicitis which took her out of school, and more importantly soccer, for 2 weeks. Her teacher was so kind and came all the way to our house to deliver handmade cards and flowers to Riley while she was recovering at home. Thankfully, she didn't look in my sewing room or she would have spied her quilt in process :)

This is the finished product right off the long arm. I just used a preloaded pattern called Traditional 9 which was the most complicated pattern that I have done to date but turned out amazing. All in all I had that quilt on the longarm for about 5.5 hours one evening and had it finished before midnight....11:58 PM to be exact!

The pattern is from happyquiltingmelissa.com and I used Homestead fabric by Moda which is seriously amazing and so happy. I love the little veggies and watering cans specifically but every piece of fabric makes me happy. I used a Jolly Bar and then a navy solid for the boarders and a grey solid for the back.

A little dark out but I had to capture the sunset right as I finished up the binding

Riley's last day of 3rd grade and 9 years old! Thanks Mrs. Grove!

Riley is on to 4th grade and loves soccer more than anything in the world right now. A close second is dance class and she is starting to recognize basketball and softball as being sports she is pretty darn good at. I see big things in this girl's future, she wants to be an interior designer one day and I believe she will run her own business and fulfill that dream someday sooner than later! She is just an amazing human and I am proud of everything she has accomplished thus far as well as how kind she is to her friends and family. Congrats sister!
