My youngest graduated preschool this week! It is bittersweet in so many ways. First, she didn't get the experience that my other kids got because of COVID. I wasn't able to help out as much as I would have liked to and it was definitely an adjustment for the teachers.

Joslyn could care less, she was just happy to be making friends at school. We wanted to do something special for the teachers and what they endured over the last year of school. Not only that, but Joslyn's teacher this year has taught all three of my kids so it was pretty special to have this final graduation!
When I asked the kids what they wanted to get their teachers the first response was "a quilt!" I caved and made them each a quilt to gift to their teacher. A bit more extreme than I have done in the past but I can honestly say that they deserve something sweet and wonderful after this year!

This was a fairly simple pattern to make and it went together so quickly. I found this free pattern at Happy Quilting: The Wall - A Brick Wall Quilt Tutorial Featuring The Jolly Bar!! (happyquiltingmelissa.com). I had never even heard of a jolly bar before and my local quilt shop didn't carry them so I took to online shopping to find the perfect fabric! Joslyn and I landed on the Fig and Shirtings fabric by Moda. The piecing itself was fast, only took me a day to piece the whole thing because the only cutting of fabric that needs to be done was the white material between the jolly bar pieces. Once we were done piecing we went looking for a perfect, snuggly backing and landed on the blue minky dot fabric from Joann Fabric.
After that we loaded it on the longarm and got it quilted in about an hour with an E2E Daisies design which was so sweet. We gifted it to her teacher on the last day of school and she loved it! Only two more quilts to go before teacher gifts are complete and the school year is a thing of the past.
