My mother in law has been making I Spy quilts every since I have known her. She gifts them to people close to her and also donates them to the Alzheimer's Association! I had the privilege of quilting these for her on my longarm. Previous to this she had always tied them which was time consuming and you couldn't put pretty patterns on the quilt! Quilting on the longarm gives it amazing texture but also allows people to spy the different items on the quilt. One of my mother in laws favorite are the Seattle Seahawks so you see that one there in the first picture.
This was the first time I had attempted the Baptist Fan pattern and I LOVE it! I loved how the pattern filled up the whole quilt but didn't compete with the patterns that she had for kids to look for.

She used blue minky fabric on the back and it turned out amazing.

The second one that I did was a quilt panto called Maze. I used a loftier batting for this, because it was what I had left over from another project, and it turned out fluffier than the first one, perfect for a kid to snuggle up in!

I hope I can keep quilting these for my mother in law because I get some great practice and I feel like I'm helping support a good cause with the Alzheimer's Association.
